Michael Jay was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He attended high school at Niles North where, in 2002, he was named 'Alumni Of The Year.' He then continued his education at Lincoln College in Lincoln, Illinois, where he was the music director of their college radio station WLNX-FM for two years. Following that, he moved on to Illinois State University.Fresh out of college, Michael landed his first job in the music business working for Curtis Mayfield at Curtom Records in Chicago.

In the early 80's, Michael moved to Los Angeles to be a songwriter and a record producer. He signed a publishing deal with Famous Music (the music division of Paramount Pictures) and one of his first recorded songs was included on the motion picture soundtrack for the movie 'Top Gun' starring Tom Cruise.

Michael then discovered a teenage Cuban-American singer named Martika. He brought her to Sony Music where he wrote and produced her debut album which included the worldwide #1 hit 'Toy Soldiers.'

Following that hit came years of songs being recorded by many top artists including Celine Dion, Kylie Minogue, Jon Secada, Mandy Moore, Lara Fabian, Peter Allen, and many others.

Today, Michael owns Jambo Studios in Los Angeles where he continues to write and produce songs for big stars as well as for new and delevoping talent.
